Bombay Beach.
I was on my way to work early one morning when I happened to look up, and what I saw made me gasp audibly: a small girl no more than five or six years old, curled up in her window frame on a summer morning with a book. My brain barely had time to process what I was seeing before I was already composing the shot, this simple moment in time - easily one of my most cherished photos to date.

I came across this book on the work of Consuelo Kanaga yesterday at a used bookstore. It’s an amazing addition to my growing collection of books on women photographers!
